Hi, I’m Liz.

Liz Parker, creator of Still Sweet. Just Smarter.

Good Food. Real Life. Smarter Choices.

I’m a wife, mom, Vizsla wrangler, recipe tinkerer, and a woman navigating midlife in real time. I’m learning, adjusting, laughing at myself, and figuring out what actually works in a life that is anything but perfect.

And somewhere along the way, Still Sweet. Just Smarter. was born.

Not as a business plan. Not as another diet. And definitely not because I had everything figured out.

It started because I was tired of starting over.

I Wasn’t Looking for Another Diet

For years, I knew the cycle well.

Try to eat better. Be really good. Feel restricted. Fall off the wagon. Start again Monday.

Eventually, I realized I didn’t need another set of rules.

I needed something I could actually live with.

My relationship with food began changing when I stopped chasing perfection and started paying attention to what made me feel better and fit into my actual life.

More protein. Less sugar. Smarter swaps. Food I genuinely enjoy.

But also birthdays. Restaurants. Family dinners. Vacations.

And cake.

Definitely cake.

Because one of the biggest things I’ve learned is this:

You don’t have to choose between feeling good and enjoying food.

That idea became the heart of Still Sweet. Just Smarter.

So, What Does “Smarter” Actually Mean?

It isn’t a diet.

And it certainly isn’t perfection.

Sometimes smarter means finding a way to make a favorite dessert with less sugar.

Sometimes it’s adding more protein to breakfast.

Sometimes it’s turning last night’s dinner into tomorrow’s completely different planover.

Sometimes it’s using canned chicken, a Trader Joe’s shortcut, or whatever happens to be sitting in the refrigerator because dinner still needs to happen.

And sometimes the smartest choice is ordering the thing you really want and enjoying every bite.

That’s real life.

And that’s the kind of food you’ll find here.

Welcome to My Kitchen

I love taking familiar food and asking:

“How can I make this work a little better for me?”

That’s where the fun starts.

Around here you’ll find smarter sweets, easy dinners, breakfast and brunch, coffee and drinks, seasonal favorites, and plenty of planovers. These are recipes and ideas designed for actual kitchens and actual lives.

Some are completely from scratch.

Some begin with a shortcut.

Some are higher in protein or lower in sugar.

And some are simply delicious.

I’m also not afraid to tell you when something completely bombs. Because if you’ve ever pulled something out of the oven and thought, well, THAT didn’t work, you’re among friends here.

This isn’t a laboratory.

It’s my kitchen.

But This Space Is About More Than Food

Midlife has taught me that growth rarely happens in one neat little category.

Food changes. Families change. Bodies change. Careers change. Priorities change.

We change.

So while you’ll find plenty to eat here, you’ll also find pieces of real life along the way. Things I’m learning, things I’m questioning, things that are working, and probably a few things I’m still figuring out.

I don’t have a perfect formula for any of it.

But I do believe there is tremendous freedom in realizing that we can keep learning, refining, and becoming at any age.

A Few Things About Me

🐾 My Vizslas believe personal space is completely optional.

☕ Early mornings and really good coffee are basically a personality trait.

🤽‍♀️ I’m a retired water polo mom. I’m still recovering.

🏡 Cozy is my preferred decorating style, lifestyle, and general state of being.

🍰 I will absolutely figure out how to make a dessert smarter, but I refuse to make it sad.

📖 I’m endlessly curious. I’m always learning, tweaking, testing, or researching something.

❤️ And I firmly believe progress beats perfection every single time.

Pull Up a Chair

If you’re looking for perfection, you’ve definitely wandered into the wrong kitchen.

But if you want good food, smarter ideas, easy dinners, something sweet, a little laughter, and some real life mixed in?

Pull up a chair.

I’m really glad you’re here.

Still Sweet. Just Smarter.
